In October 2004, the first unit of the Brazilian company built outside the country was opened in the Mexican city of Puebla, 125 kilometers away from Mexico City. Selected truck and bus chassis models are produced there. With this new unit, which has 11 thousand square meters, Volkswagen has increase the capability of supplying commercial vehicles throughout Latin America.
By end of 2008, the plant had reached the level of more than 5.500 vehicles produced. The SKD production system, for the assembly of semi-knocked-down. Assure the production capacity of more than 100 vehicles per month. To meet the new demand, Volkswagen Trucks and Buses dealers were opened in Mexico, which is considered the largest Latin American market outside Brazil.
